Special Olympics athletes are individuals with a true passion for living life to the fullest, and achieving their potential in both in sport and life. Special Olympics athletes learn life lessons both on and off the field of play and have a blast competing!
There are currently more than 2.5 million children and adults with intellectual disabilities who are training to compete in Special Olympics. Special Olympics Tennessee offers 17 sports for athletes to choose from. Special Olympics athletes have the opportunity to expand beyond competition, by participating in the Healthly Athletes program or the Athlete Leadership Programs, where athletes can train as coaches, officials or public speakers.
Best of all, Special Olympics is FREE to eligible people wishing to participate! The financial and in-kind support of sponsors, donors, and families make it possible for Special Olympics athletes to never be charged a fee to compete!
