Welcome to the Special Olympics Tennessee Family Network!
As a family member you are a vital part of the success of the worldwide Special Olympics Movement. Family members reach out to new athletes and coaches, provide transportation and funding, and volunteer as chaperones, coaches and officials. You know first hand the benefits and joy Special Olympics brings to athletes, families, and communities.
Family members experience an extreme sense of pride as they watch their athletes become all they can be as individuals, citizens and team members through their accomplishments in Special Olympics. Special Olympics provides a venue for families to share and exchange their experiences with other families and friends.
Special Olympics wants to involve families in activities and to encourage them to share in the joy that comes from such participation. Through Special Olympics, more than 13, 000 Tennessee athletes and their families are discovering the future of hope, personal growth and success.
Families are very important to the Special Olympics movement, and we offer many ways for family members to get involved. Family members can:
- Become a coach
- Volunteer at an event
- Train athletes at home between practices
- Participate in Unified Sports®
- Become involved in family activities within your local program
