Erica Spears is eighteen years old and attends Maryville High School in Blount County. A senior who will graduate this year has been involved with Special Olympics for several years and has competed in Alpine Skiing, Roller Skating, Track and Field and Aquatics. Erica says her favorite sport is Alpine Skiing and this year Erica had the honor of being selected as the torch bearer for the 2008 Winter Games in Gatlinburg, TN.

Erica is described by her teachers as very compassionate, thoughtful, and kind toward her fellow athletes. She lives with her parents and her younger sister, is active in the church and after graduation hopes to work in Child Development.

Next time you're skiing in Tennessee don't be surprised if you see Erica flying right by you with a smile.
