Special Olympics Tennessee provides, as part of the largest sports organization in the world, year-round training and competition in 17 Olympic-type sports for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. More than 12,000 athletes throughout Tennessee are registered to participate in this program supported by a volunteer base of 6,000.
In 1995, Special Olympics Tennessee was rated by the Chronicle of Philanthropy as “the most credible charity in the United States.” As a non-profit organization Special Olympics Tennessee strives each year to retain and deserve that title. SOTN receives no funds from the government or United Way, which makes our grassroots fundraising efforts crucial to the organization’s success and survival.
