Divisions 2 and 3 of the Music City Corporate Challenge presented by Lifepoint Health competed in a thrilling night of basketball at Lipscomb University on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The teams on the court on Tuesday included CAPTRUST, Cooper Steel, Currax Pharmaceuticals, N Contracts, Silicon Ranch, and the Special Olympics Tennessee Board of Directors and Young Professionals Board.

Representatives from each team, both men’s and co-ed, competed 3 versus 3 style for five games to determine who would battle in the championship match. The final contenders: men’s teams from CapTrust and Silicon Ranch, and co-ed teams from Cooper Steel and N Contracts.

For the Division 3 men’s competition, CAPTRUST had a clean sweep to lead them to gold for this round of the Music City Corporate Challenge. The team of six was dedicated to coming out on top in the basketball competition.

“We won silver in dodgeball, so it feels awesome to win gold here at basketball,” said Taylor Morrison from CAPTRUST. “And, we had a bunch of fun doing it.”

Going up for the rebound

Silicon Ranch brought home silver and the Special Olympics Board of Directors and Young Professionals Board earned bronze in the Division 3 men’s competition.

Co-ed teams from Cooper Steel and N Contracts balled out in an intense battle for gold. However, Cooper Steel ended victoriously against their newfound (friendly) rival, N Contracts. Cooper Steel won gold for the second week in a row, while N Contracts earned silver and Currax Pharmaceuticals earned bronze.

Wednesday night brought back our Division 2 competitors, including CapStar, Crowe LLP, Pillsbury Law, Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, and Turner Construction. The games were just as intense as night one, leaving only two teams to take home the gold.

The Tennessee Titans achieved gold for the second week in a row during Corporate Challenge men’s basketball. The team of four battled against Pillsbury in the final and pushed themselves to victory. Pillsbury Law took silver, and the Preds won bronze. During the Bronze Medal Match, special Olympics Tennessee athlete, Emily, also gained a feature on the court against Nashville Predators and Turner Construction.

“It feels good to finally earn a medal here at Corporate Challenge,” said Henry Boeckmann of Nashville Predators. “We’re having a great time so far.”

Crowe, LLP and Turner Construction played an action-packed game for gold for the co-ed competition. However, Crowe put Turner’s winning streak to an end and won the match. Turner left with silver, and CapStar with bronze.

Coming up next week — sand volleyball! Stay tuned for the final results from Music City Corporate Challenge basketball.
