Become A Volunteer

Special Olympics Tennessee would not exist today and could not have been created without the time, energy, and dedication of thousands of volunteers. Whether you are interested in becoming a one-day event volunteer, or making a longer-term commitment to become a sport or local area volunteer, we thank you for your support and look forward to helping you find a place within our organization. Sport Volunteers range from coaches and assistant coaches to Unified partners who play on the same team as Special Olympics athletes. Sports officials and competition directors, who oversee event competition, also help us ensure the best play possible.
Dedicated one-day event volunteers serve in a variety of roles to ensure events run successfully and smoothly.
Each of our Area programs provide sports training and competition throughout the year for the athletes in their community. Leadership volunteers are needed to serve on Area councils and make Special Olympics happen from behind the scenes.
