Knoxville Athletes Form Friendship Through Cornhole

Cheyenne Henson and Madison Ray aren’t just Special Olympics Tennessee cornhole athletes from Greater Knoxville; they’re a powerhouse duo whose years of playing side-by-side have forged an unshakable bond and a friendship as solid as their aim.

After the competition at State Fall Games, Henson and Ray said the field was tough. They didn’t yet know their results, but felt confident that they had played well. It was a different kind of challenge, they added, but one they found incredibly fun.

“It was super fun to play with Madison today," said Henson. "I always like playing with her.”

Ray and Henson have been competing with Special Olympics for a long time. They both play multiple sports, including bowling, the previous day of competition.

Henson did very well in bowling on Friday and got the award for the player with the most strikes. She said the bowling competition was fun but she likes cornhole better.

“I like cornhole because it is fun to play both inside and outside,” Henson said.

The duo capped off the State Fall Games with an impressive second-place finish, bringing home the silver medal.
