Tennessee State Youth Activation Committee

The goal of the State YAC is to engage other youth to help carry out social justice for all people. Apply today to join the team of youth leaders educating, motivating and activating all Special Olympics Tennessee athletes and supporters to make our vision of an inclusive Tennessee a reality.

What is YAC?

A State YAC is a group of youth, comprised of members with and without intellectual disabilities, from across the state. This group works together throughout the year to educate, motivate, and activate youth to become agents of change in their communities and advocate for the respect, inclusion, and acceptance of all people, regardless of abilities. The State YAC uses various tools to effectively communicate such as e-mail, conference calls, Facebook, state summits, and state rallies. The goal of the State YAC is to reach out to other youth to help carry out social justice for all people.

How Does YAC Lead?

  • Collaborate with SOTN staff to develop materials for schools that help them carry out the UCS mission
  • 1x year, lead Inclusive Youth Leadership Training events
  • Be a vocal advocate for UCS during large events such as Capitol Hill Day and state games and meetings
  • Offer ideas to help identify business, government, and education leaders to help UCS mission
