Continuing into its second week, the Music City Corporate Challenge, presented by Lifepoint Health, launched into action and enthralled its audience with riveting, fun-filled sand volleyball games at SandBar Nashville. Organized by Special Olympics Tennessee, the games saw intense competition between Division 2 and 3 teams from Greater Nashville Area corporations. Among them were avid competitors representing CKE Restaurants, the parent company of the beloved Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s franchises. They had previously participated in the Corporate Challenge and were excited to return this year.

Speaking to us about his experience with the Corporate Challenge and the prominent role community service plays in his career, Drew Moore, one of CKE’s lead athletes, told us how he was motivated to join the Music City Corporate Challenge after hearing rave reviews from coworkers at CKE.

“I’ve just heard great things about it," said Moore. "We thought that the organization put things together really well. It was very easy to get here and get involved, and everybody on the team is super excited to be out here supporting a good cause and have a good time."

When asked about the importance of volunteering in the community, especially with an organization like Special Olympics, Moore applauded the strong partnership between Special Olympics Tennessee and CKE Restaurants and described how the spirit of volunteerism is deeply ingrained into CKE’s culture, which aims to be as inclusive as possible. The company offers every employee a paid day to volunteer in their community and is currently hosting its annual Stars for Heroes fundraiser to benefit local veterans.

“We’re always looking for new ways to support the community," said Moore. "And we think it's important because the community supports us right through our restaurants. Many of us wouldn’t be here with jobs at CKE without the community supporting us. We think it's important to reach out and give back whenever possible.”
