Frazier Franz, a 12-year Special Olympics Athlete from Wilson County, recently competed in the 2024 Summer Games hosted by Lipscomb University. Franz, who is no stranger to competition, has competed at the local, regional, state and even national level, including playing for Team Tennessee in flag football at the 2022 USA Games in Florida.

Franz’s volleyball team, which goes by the name “Dream Team,” was coached by his mother, Regina. They placed fourth overall in the 2024 Summer Games.

“I loved getting to play volleyball with all my friends and getting to see all my other friends,” Franz said about his favorite part of the Summer Games.

Franz's future dreams and aspirations include returning to the USA Games and one day going to the World Games. He also aspires to coach a Special Olympics team one day.

“Don’t give up, keep going and don’t put your head down,” is the advice Franz chose to give to his fellow athletes.

Being a Special Olympics athlete has had a tremendous impact on Franz's life. By being given the opportunity to compete and be a part of the team, athletes like Franz have seen tremendous progress in communication.

“It has helped me not to be scared to talk to other people, especially people that I don’t know,” said Franz.

Thank you to the Franz family for being great representatives of the Special Olympics, and good luck to Frazier in his future goals!
