The energy was electric at this year’s Music City Corporate Challenge, presented by Lifepoint Health, dodgeball tournament, a highlight of the larger initiative hosted by Special Olympics Tennessee. With teams diving, dodging and cheering each other on, the event was more than just an athletic showdown. It was a celebration of connection, inclusion, and civic-minded leadership.

The Corporate Challenge brings together employees from companies across the area to compete in fun, team-building competitions, such as dodgeball. Proceeds from the event directly support Special Olympics Tennessee and help fund year-round programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities across the state.

Competition with Heart

CAPTRUST took home first place after a competitive and spirited showing. For Principal Financial Advisor Randy Lee, the experience is about more than just winning.

“This is our third year participating,” Lee shared. “It’s a lot of fun, and a great way to support a fantastic cause. We have members of our team on the board, we volunteer, and we even host award ceremonies at our office so we can meet the athletes. It’s about giving back and being part of something bigger.”

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) claimed second place, bringing excitement and energy to the event.

“Last year was our first time, and we couldn’t wait to come back,” said Audrey Boyd, Communications Coordinator at GMC. “Everyone here is so kind and welcoming. It’s such a great way to connect with other companies and with our coworkers. We’re excited to keep coming back and to get more involved.”

Finishing in third place was Cooper Steel, a company that values showing up for others in every way it can.

“It’s always great to come together with other companies for something meaningful,” said Josh Lynch, Senior Preconstruction Estimator at Cooper Steel. “Special Olympics brings people together from all walks of life, and we’re proud to support that mission in any way we can.”

Silicon Ranch also returned with strong enthusiasm and purpose.

“It’s something we look forward to every year,” said Luke Wilkinson, Vice President of Project Development at Silicon Ranch. “It builds our team’s camaraderie, and it’s meaningful because we know we’re supporting our community. Watching Special Olympics athletes grow and achieve their goals through this support is incredibly inspiring.”

More Than Just a Game

The dodgeball tournament, like the broader Corporate Challenge, showcases the impact that companies can have when they unite around a shared purpose. It’s about more than sports. It’s about building bridges between businesses and the communities they serve, and creating lasting opportunities for Special Olympics athletes across Tennessee.

With continued support and growing enthusiasm, the Corporate Challenge is not only changing lives but also setting a gold standard for meaningful engagement and impact-driven leadership.
